Grants

Our deadline for grant applications from OCAT 2024 has been extended to Nov 15, 2024.

The OCAT has earmarked $5000 this year to provide grants to local agencies with a similar mandate to the OCAT. We hope to disburse 5 X $1000 grants by the end of 2024.
Successful agencies will share the core values as indicated below. The application must show how the money will be spent in accordance with these values. The grants will be available to agencies or pre-established organizations and not individuals. Successful applicants will have proposed projects that address the key goals of the Oceanside Community Action Team:
The OCAT strives to reduce harms and deaths due to the toxic drug poisoning crisis in our communities through advocacy, harm reduction, community education, stigma reduction, and engagement with other agencies and First Nations with similar mandates. Other factors causing harm may include poverty, homelessness, mental health issues, trauma, or other life altering conditions.
We intend to build on the success of our Peer Support Worker Team in providing life-saving Naloxone and outreach support and linking to local and/or available Recovery Resources.
We plan to work closely with Island Health and other agencies as they bring new services on stream as well as to support existing services.
We continuously work to strengthen relationships with Qualicum First Nation, Nanoose First Nation, the Mid-Island Metis Nation, and FNHA.

If you are interested in applying and you believe that your use of the funds will be in alignment with the values above, please send a one-page application to
